Chat AI

Chat AI, a data protection-compliant generative text AI, has been available in the Academic Cloud since June. Below you will find application examples to help you get started with the tool, as well as further information on how it works and what you need to bear in mind when using it.

You can find the service on the Academic Cloud homepage (https://academiccloud.de) or directly at  https://chat-ai.academiccloud.de.

General information

Chat AI offers you a chatbot based on various Large Language Models (LLM), including ChatGPT. The application scenarios are diverse: Chat AI can answer questions, create or summarize texts, generate programming code and much more. You are invited to make your own experiences with the use of artificial intelligence in your work contexts.

Chat AI and other GPTs (Generative Pretrained Transformers) are computer programs that have been trained to process and regenerate human language. Such programs are fed a large amount of text data to teach them how to form sentences and paragraphs in human language and how to respond to questions.

When Chat AI is given input in the form of a question or a prompt, it can generate an answer or a continuation of the input text that sounds like it was written by a human. It can also be used to summarize, translate or analyze texts.

Application examples

ChatAI is primarily a text generation tool - not a research tool. It is particularly good at generating text by lining up words according to the probability of their sequence. The text generated in this way cannot be quoted, as the source cannot be identified and text cannot be reproduced once it has been generated. It can support you in all text-based activities in your day-to-day work, especially,

  • if you want to write texts and if you can give the tool a few key words to give you a text suggestion. Concrete examples of use would be, for example, in e-mail communication or when writing standardized reply letters, when writing tender texts and task profiles or service specifications for procurement processes.
  • if you want to extract quintessence from large volumes of text and if you want to quickly capture and compile core statements in large volumes of text.
  • if you are at the beginning of a conception or development process and want to compare initial ideas with best practices.
  • if you want to write instructions or a list of aspects that usually need to be considered for a similar task.

Instructions for use

The following should be noted when using it:

Responsibility:

Chat AI is a supporting tool. It cannot and must not make decisions, e.g. on legal issues. As a user, you are responsible for always critically scrutinizing the information generated by the AI, verifying it, correcting it if necessary and adapting it to the specific use case.

Data protection and official secrecy:

If you use Chat AI, maintain the protection of personal data and official secrecy. Do not enter any personal data or confidential information or anonymize it before entering it so that no conclusions can be drawn about individuals or specific processes. If the AI outputs data that can be related to a person, it must not be used. Set your prompt so that the expected result does not relate to a specific person.

Copyright and intellectual property:

The use of Chat AI must be in accordance with copyright law, i.e. copyrighted content may not be used as input for AI systems or requires permission.

Avoidance of discrimination:

It cannot be ruled out that an AI system may generate discriminatory and/or stereotyping content depending on what training data is available. Use myAI responsibly and check the information generated for discrimination or stereotyping. Knowledge management:

The use of AI in an administrative context is still new and together we are testing the first possible applications in our various work contexts. We ask you to share your experiences with other users in order to learn and improve the handling of AI-generated information together.

Access
