If you have a foreign university entrance qualification, then you must apply for a Bachelor's degree program at Leuphana College via the Arbeits- und Servicestelle für internationale Studienbewerbungen (uni-assist). This applies equally to international and German applicants without a German university entrance qualification (HZB).

The online application at Uni Assist is usually activated from the beginning of May for the winter semester and from the beginning of November for the summer semester.

If you have a foreign university entrance qualification such as A-Level, High School Diploma, Baccalaureate or Gaocao you must submit your application form and supporting documents to Uni Assist.

For the first semester

• July 15 for start of studies in October (winter semester).
• Please note: The Bachelor programs all start in the winter semester. Therefore, it is not possible to enroll in the summer semester (start of studies in April).

For the higher semestre

• by July 15 for studies beginning in October (winter semester)
• by January 15 for study beginning in April (summer semester)

Important note

It is best to submit your application for the first / higher semester as well as all required documents 6 weeks before the application deadline. This will ensure that Uni Assist can review your application by the deadline and that you can submit any missing documents by the application deadline.

Uni Assist charges a processing fee of 75.00 euros for checking your application. If you apply to several universities that also have their documents checked by Uni Assist, each additional application via Uni Assist costs 30.00 euros. These costs apply to applicants from non-EU countries as well as to applicants from EU countries and the EEA (European Economic Area, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway).

Please transfer the fee before sending your application so that you can attach the proof of payment to your application documents.

Information on the payment of the processing fee

Germans with a foreign university entrance qualification should definitely check whether the application for another university also has to go through Uni Assist, or whether they can apply directly to the university in question.

Important note

Your application will only be processed at Uni-Assist after you have paid the processing fee.

1. Registration

Before you can apply, you must register with uni-assist. After registration, you will be asked to provide information about yourself as well as your previous education. These details will be included in your application.

Once you have successfully registered and completed your profile, you will be able to create an application at uni-assist to study for a bachelor's degree at the college.

Important note

Please be sure to include your email address. uni-assist can then communicate with you quickly and reliably and clarify any questions that arise directly.

2. Create application

You apply by creating a college application. To create this application, you must search for Leuphana University of Lüneburg on the applicant portal and specify Bachelor as the degree you are seeking. You will then be shown the Bachelor's degree programs offered at Leuphana College.

Once the application has been activated, you can create an application for Leuphana College: for the first semester or higher.

Important note

You can only apply for a bachelor program. That means you can only create one application for Leuphana College.

3. Review of the application

For the review of your application uni-assist charges a processing fee. Only after you have transferred the processing fee to uni-assist will your application be reviewed.

If you meet the admission requirements, your application will be forwarded to Leuphana College and you will participate in the admission procedure.

Important Note

Transfer the processing fee before mailing your application and include proof of payment with your application materials. This will ensure that your application is reviewed.

Important note

You can only apply for a bachelor program. That is, you apply to either a major-minor combinationor for a teacher education program. For teacher education programs, you apply for either two teaching majors or one professional discipline (social pedagogy or business education) and one teaching major.

In order for your application to be considered for the allocation of places, you must submit a valid application to Uni Assist. The application form is not valid until you submit all required certificates/documents to Uni Assist by the deadline.

Proof of university entrance qualification

• School leaving certificate (officially certified)
• If applicable, proof of previous university degree (officially certified)
• If applicable, proof of previous periods of study (officially certified)
• If applicable, APS certificate^*) (original)

Proof of foreign language skills and entrance exams 

• If applicable, proof of sufficient knowledge of German (officially certified)
• Proof of sufficient English language skills, if applicable (see form of documents)
• If applicable, proof of having passed the qualifying examination for the subject of music
• If applicable, proof of passing qualifying examination for the teaching subject of physical education

Other required evidence

• Copy of the page of your passport that has your name and passport photo
• Proof of payment of the processing fee

^*) Chinese applicants must undergo the APS in China. Only if you have already entered the Federal Republic of Germany before 01.04.2002 or are married to a German citizen, you can apply for the APS examination from Germany.

Applicants from Mongolia must also submit an APS certificate with their application. If you entered Germany before 01.11.2006, you can apply for the examination procedure from Germany. If you entered on 01.11.2006 or later, you must return to Mongolia and apply for the procedure there. If you are already studying or attending a Studienkolleg in Germany, you do not have to go through the APS procedure if you apply again.

Applicants from Vietnam who entered Germany after 01.01.2007 are generally required to submit an APS certificate from the Academic Testing Center in Hanoi. If you entered Germany on a visa for study purposes, you are exempt from the APS.

You must submit all certificates / proofs as a certified copy to Uni Assist. If the original is not in English, you must also include an officially certified German translation. Translations must be done by a sworn translator.

Official certifications issued by the institutions listed below are accepted for an application to Leuphana University of Lüneburg:

• Federal authorities (in Germany)
• Land authorities (in Germany)
• Municipal authorities (in Germany)
• Notaries licensed in Germany
• Churches (in Germany)
• Local courts in Germany (except Hesse)
• Foreign representations of the FRG
• Field offices of the DAAD

For proof of English proficiency with TOEFL or IELTS, you can first submit a simple printout. If you receive an admission, you must submit the original certificate at the time of enrollment.

QUESTION: Is the applicant informed in the admission letter that he/she must submit the missing original certificate at matriculation?

For the TOEFL, you can arrange for the TOEFL certificate to be sent directly to Uni-Assist on the homepage from the Educational Testing Service, ETS, by entering your registration code for Uni-Assist, code number 2727.

Important note

Do not submit original transcripts/documents to Uni-Assist. Application documents cannot be returned to you. Only the APS certificate (see required documents) must be submitted in original.

What happens after applying to Uni Assist?

Once you have submitted all the required application documents in due time, uni-assist will check whether you have the necessary admission requirements for a bachelor's degree program at the college.

Valid HZB and required foreign language skills in German and English available

If you meet all admission requirements, take part in the admission procedure. Leuphana will inform you by mail about your results in the admission procedure. Therefore, please refrain from inquiries regarding the status of your application.

Valid HZB and NO sufficient knowledge of German available

If you do not have sufficient knowledge of German, do NOT participate in the admission procedure. Leuphana will inform you by mail about the rejection of your application. You can acquire the missing German language skills, for example, in an intensive course at Leuphana. You can find more information on the pages of the Language Center.

Valid HZB and NO sufficient English skills available

If you do not have a sufficient command of English, you will still participate in the admission procedure. Leuphana will inform you by mail about your performance in the admission procedure. If you receive an admission, it is limited in time. You must provide proof of the required English language skills by the end of the 2nd semester at the latest. If the proof is not provided by this time, you will be de-registered. You can acquire the missing English skills, for example, in a course at Leuphana. Previous education not sufficient for college admission

If you do not have the required previous education to study in Germany, do NOT participate in the admission procedure. Leuphana will inform you by mail about the rejection of your application and will automatically register you at the Studienkolleg in Hannover. Participation in the Studienkolleg in Hannover is voluntary. At the Studienkolleg you can take an assessment test. The Feststellungsprüfung qualifies you for a Stu­di­um. The Fest­stel­lungs­prüfung is a subject­ge­bun­de­ne Hoch­schul­zu­gangs­be­rech­ti­ gung, which is why you can only use it for be­te stu­di­en­pro­gram­me at the Col­le­ge be­wer­ge.

Invalid application

If your application is incomplete, for example because documents are missing, the application has not been signed or the processing fee has not been transferred, it will not be processed by uni-assist. You will receive a rejection directly from uni-assist.

Valid university entrance qualification and required English skills available

If you meet the admission requirements, you will participate in the admission procedure. Leuphana will inform you by mail about your results in the admission procedure. Therefore, please refrain from inquiring about the status of your application.

Valid university entrance qualification and NO sufficient English skills availabl

If you do not have sufficient English language skills, you will still participate in the admission process. Leuphana will inform you by mail about your performance in the admission procedure. If you receive an admission, it is limited in time. You must submit proof of the required English language skills by the start of lectures at the latest. If the proof is not provided by this time, you will be exmatriculated.

Previous education not sufficient for college admission

If you do not have the required previous education to study in Germany, do NOT participate in the admission procedure. Leuphana will inform you by mail about the rejection of your application and will automatically register you at the Studienkolleg in Hannover. Participation in the Studienkolleg in Hannover is voluntary. At the Studienkolleg you can take an assessment test. The Feststellungsprüfung qualifies you for a Stu­di­um.
