Framework Examination Regulations

The Framework Examination Regulations lay down the general conditions for examinations. They are legally binding and regulate, among other things, the course of studies, admission requirements, recognition of achievements, the examination procedure, examination dates and registration deadlines, missing and withdrawing from examinations, cheating in examinations as well as the formation of grades, possibilities of repeating examinations and much more.

If you have already completed examinations at another university or have acquired knowledge and skills outside the university system, these can be credited to your current studies at Leuphana University.

Please submit the application for recognition together with the corresponding proof of achievement (e.g. transcript of records, certificate) as well as relevant information on the content of the examination achievement (e.g. module description) in the study programme.

After the examination of the content, you will receive written notification as to whether recognition has been granted.

Students are obliged to immediately report any changes to the data collected during enrolment.

Especially in the case of a change of address or name, the changed data should be sent immediately to the person in charge at the Student Services in order to ensure that important study documents reach you. In order to be able to reach you more quickly, you should also provide your telephone number or mobile phone number.

To ensure that you receive your documents on time and in an uncomplicated way, you can change your data directly at Qis on your own responsibility. You can change your semester address and your telephone number via Qis. All other data can be changed at the Student Services using the appropriate form.

Please note that if you want to change your name, we need the application and the certificate of the name change.

You can apply for a leave of absence in writing until the end of the re-registration period or, in exceptional cases, within one month of the start of lectures.

Even during a leave of absence, you remain a member of Leuphana University Lüneburg and retain your student status. However, you are not entitled to complete credits and examinations during this time. Semesters of leave of absence are not counted as semesters of study.

Leave of absence is only permitted for full semesters per degree programme and, as a rule, only for a maximum of two consecutive semesters in each case. Leave of absence for the first and preceding semesters is NOT permitted!

Exception: Leave of absence for 4 semesters

If you want to be granted leave of absence for more than four semesters during the duration of your studies in a degree programme, you must provide evidence of an important reason. Important reasons are in particular:

  • health reasons,
  • Study abroad,
  • completion of an internship provided for in the curriculum or examination regulations that is not part of the degree programme,
  • activity in the academic or student self-administration,
  • family reasons (e.g. pregnancy/raising children).

Fees during leave of absence

According to § 1 and 3 of the Student Union Regulations of 14.05.2014, Leuphana University Lüneburg only charges the student union fee.

You can be exempted from the Studentenwerk fees under certain conditions. Please contact the Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen, Munstermannskamp 3 in 21335 Lüneburg for more information.

If you apply later, the semester fee already paid will only be refunded if the application is received by the Student Services before or within one month after the start of lectures. In addition to the application, any student ID that has already been issued, including the semester ticket and all certificates, must be received within the above-mentioned period.

Withdrawal of leave of absence

A leave of absence can be withdrawn up to one month after the start of lectures.

If you are unable to take part in an examination or meet a deadline due to illness, you must submit an original medical certificate to the Student Services immediately after the illness has been diagnosed.

The certificate must show that you are unable to take the exam, so please have your doctor fill out the following form (a normal "certificate of incapacity for work" is not sufficient).

For data protection reasons, grades may not be communicated by e-mail.

From a technical point of view, e-mails can be read like postcards, and it is also possible that someone could request results under a false name.

If you would still like to receive examination results or transcripts of records by e-mail, please submit the form below to the Student Services Infoportal.

From the winter semester 2018/2019, the state-wide semester ticket of the universities in Lower Saxony will be introduced. However, this does not apply to part-time students. Students at the Professional School will therefore not receive a semester ticket.

In the case of theft of the student ID card/semester ticket, a copy of the report to the police must also be submitted; in all other cases, a statement of reasons must be provided.

The application must be signed with the original signature. It can be submitted either in person at the Infoportal or by post.

Costs

A processing fee of € 5.00 is payable in cash when submitting the application.

Delivery of the new semester ticket/student ID card

In the event of theft, the new semester ticket/student ID can be handed over immediately in person. In all other cases, this will be sent by post to the address given after processing.

The fee regulations govern the amount of fees for participation in the degree programmes and participation in individual modules or preliminary courses, as well as their due dates and exceptions.
