Semester abroad

Gaining international experience and intercultural skills is becoming increasingly important. A stay abroad is an important and valuable personal experience: students deepen their language skills, new study focuses and interests develop, international friendships are made.

A stay abroad therefore has many advantages, but must also be well prepared. Here are some tips:

  • The application for the following semester must be submitted to the International Office no later than one month after the start of lectures.
  • Students who spend a semester abroad are completely exempt from semester fees.
  • A semester abroad is counted as a semester of study if creditable work is completed abroad.
  • Students retain all rights and obligations.
  • You will receive written notification from the Student Services Office that your semester abroad has been recorded as a semester abroad.

If you have any further questions regarding your stay at a partner university or at another university abroad, as well as all organisational questions such as accommodation and visas, please contact the International Office.
