The auditorium corridor is open again
2023-01-20 Lüneburg. Leuphana's building management team has done a great job: After a construction period of 17 months, the thoroughly renovated and renewed lecture hall corridor on the university's central campus now shines in new splendour. A new oak parquet floor, new benches, new network and power connections and a new lighting system create a special room atmosphere that invites you to linger even more than before.
A real eye-catcher is the oak parquet flooring with its multi-oiled surface. The new flooring not only looks good, but is also a particularly sustainable solution because it uses a durable, renewable and recyclable raw material. The wooden floor was also chosen because its sound-absorbing properties reduce the noise level in the room. Also new is a tactile guidance system on the floor, which makes it easier for people with visual impairments to find their way through the auditorium corridor.
The renewed lighting system is a particularly visible feature of the redesign of the lecture hall corridor. All lighting fixtures can be flexibly switched; the light intensity can be regulated via a dimmer circuit. The light is generated exclusively by energy-efficient LEDs.
The radiators combined with benches are also new. On the sides, the benches are equipped with network and power connections. In addition, the foyer was equipped with new event technology so that the areas can be used flexibly in the future.
A problem that used to occur frequently on sunny summer days has now also been solved: Because of the glass roofing of the lecture hall foyers, strong sunlight used to frequently cause very high temperatures in the room. Now all the skylights are fitted with sun protection film to prevent overheating.
Further furnishing elements are intended to further increase the quality of stay in the lecture hall corridor in the future: In the next few days, pin boards will be installed, which will offer the possibility of posting notices at various places in the lecture hall corridor. Last but not least, seating groups are to be procured for the lecture hall corridor, which, in addition to the benches already installed, can be used e.g. for breaks, meetings or for work phases of smaller groups.
