The civil servant relationship with the University of Lüneburg Foundation ends automatically when a public-law employment or official relationship is established with another employer in Germany, e.g. in the case of an appointment to another state or state-recognized German university. For organizational and formal reasons, various offices within the university must be informed of an impending transfer.
The application for dismissal must be submitted in writing and addressed to the line manager. Professors apply for dismissal to the President. The document linked under "Forms" can be used as a template for the letter requesting dismissal.
The dismissal is formally confirmed with a certificate and an accompanying decree, which are handed over in person. The handover takes place during an appointment with the President, the responsible personnel officer in the Professorships/Officials department or the new employer.

With the termination of the civil servant relationship, civil servants leave an insurance-free employment relationship without entitlement to a later regular civil servant pension. The Lower Saxony State Office for Pay and Pensions (NLBV) in Lüneburg will therefore check whether there is an alternative entitlement to a retirement pension or whether subsequent insurance in the statutory pension insurance scheme will be carried out.
