Allowance

Civil servants are entitled to an allowance. The term "allowance" refers to financial support in the event of illness, birth, nursing care and death, both for the civil servants themselves and for their children and, in special cases, for the spouses of civil servants, provided they are not themselves subject to social security contributions.

Under certain conditions, administrators of professorships may also be entitled to receive benefits for themselves and their dependents. Further information on this can be found (soon) on the intranet page for administrators.

General information

The entitlement to benefits begins on the date of appointment. The allowance covers part of the costs incurred in the event of illness, birth, nursing care and death in accordance with the allowance regulations of the state of Lower Saxony. It is recommended to take out private health insurance to cover the remaining portion in accordance with the aid regulations of the state of Lower Saxony.

General Information

Aid is granted upon written application. The calculation and payment is carried out by the Lower Saxony State Office for Pay and Pensions (NLBV) Aurich. Even before the first application is submitted, the NLBV Aurich already knows which persons are entitled to benefits due to the data exchange with the NLBV Lüneburg, which is responsible for the payment of benefits.

If you have any questions about the granting of benefits, please contact the NLBV Aurich.
