Honorarprofessorinnen und Honorarprofessoren

The university may appoint individuals who have proven themselves through academic or artistic achievements or professional experience as honorary professors in accordance with Section 35 sentence 1 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) and the corresponding regulations of Leuphana University of Lüneburg.

Honorary professors regularly offer non-remunerated courses of at least 2 LVS in the faculty in which the honorary professorship is located or associated and may be involved in examinations and research. Honorary professors have a legal relationship with the university under public law and are entitled to use the title "Professor".

General information

The requirements, criteria and procedure for appointment and revocation are governed by the Regulations for the Appointment of Honorary Professors dated April 17, 2013 (Leuphana Gazette No. 10/13 dated May 27, 2013).

The details of the procedure can be found in § 4 of the regulations. The application must be made using the form linked below and submitted via the Department of Human Resources and Legal Affairs, Professorships/Officials.
