Summer sports

2023-07-05

Dear colleagues,

The sun is shining and the summer semester 2023 is coming to an end. Even though the campus will soon be emptying and many of you will hopefully be going on a well-deserved holiday, we would like to draw your attention to our sports programmes in the near future.

Sports programme during the lecture-free period:
During the lecture-free period, there are a number of offers to tempt you - from exercise-intensive to relaxing, everything is on offer.
For example, after the great demand in the healthy week, we are offering fascia training for the first time in the lecture-free period.
The employee courses usually run for the entire lecture-free period. There are a few changes for the rest of the offer due to low demand in the summer. Read more on our website: www.leuphana.de/services/hochschulsport/aktuell/ansicht/2023/06/19/kursprogramm-in-der-vorlesungsfreien-zeit-sommer-23-neues-konzept.html

Our programme starts on 10 July 2023 and will be released on the same day at 08:00 a.m..

As always, you are allowed to count participation in a one-hour event in the employee sports programme as working time each week. Please discuss this with your immediate supervisor.

Children's holiday offer:
We still have places available for the children's holiday programme in the last weeks of the summer holidays. If you are still interested, book places for your children as soon as possible: buchung.hochschulsport.leuphana.de/angebote/aktueller_zeitraum/_Kindersportferien_im_Hochschulsport.html

Stand-up paddling and other outdoor activities:
Thanks to the support of the university management and the department of building management, many more outdoor sports facilities are currently being created on campus.
After the table tennis tables, chess tables are now also available in the library garden. As you may have already discovered, we are soon looking forward to a 3rd beach field on the sports lawn as well as a bouldering rock behind lecture hall 3.
There will also be a new barbecue station, which is being financed by student parliament funding. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer barbecue grill rental until it is back in operation.
We will soon be able to expand our paddling offer on the Ilmenau with stand-up paddling boards. The SUP boards can be borrowed from our office in Studio 21, paddling maturity is a prerequisite for borrowing.

I wish you a wonderful summer and holiday season.

Sporty greetings on behalf of the entire university sports team
David Storek, Head of University Sports Centre
