Boulder new on the campus

2023-08-22 Perhaps some of you have already noticed the work going on behind lecture hall 3 in the library garden - a boulder is being built there directly on campus as a new exercise facility.

This climbing project, jointly realised by the University Sports Centre and Building Management, is part of the "Campus Living Environment" project, which aims to develop a sustainable and social campus. The focus is on increasing biodiversity, accessibility, sustainable mobility, exercise opportunities and places of learning in the green.

In the course of the development, several outdoor sports and exercise facilities are being created. Since the beginning of the summer semester, table tennis tables and chess tables have already been set up. Now the climbing rock will follow. The financing is mainly made possible by investment funds from the university. Financial support also comes from Techniker Krankenkasse, a cooperation partner of the University Sports Centre.

Before the "bouldering" can begin, climbing holds must now be attached. So that it doesn't get boring, new routes are to be bolted again and again in the future. So that as many bolters as possible can realise their ideas, the university sports centre will offer workshops in which you can learn how to bolt routes.
