Current information from the building management

2022-05-27 The Building Management team provides information on trees, the low-car campus and the auditorium corridor.

Tree canopy pruning

If you take all the campuses together, Leuphana has a tree population of around 700 trees - including 500 on the central campus Universitätsallee alone: lime trees, beeches, pines and many other species. In order to protect and preserve our tree population, the crowns and shoots of the trees must be continuously pruned back.  The work takes place almost all year round. The trees are only pruned when it is not bird breeding season or when an expert approves the tree for pruning beforehand. These measures may cause noise nuisance for a short time. The Building Management makes every effort to coordinate the measures in such a way that disruptions to university operations can be avoided as far as possible.

If you do feel disturbed by the noise of a chainsaw, we ask for your understanding. As a rule, these works do not last long.

Car-free campus

Some time ago, the campus was declared a traffic-calmed area according to StVo and signposted. With the return of students from the Corona lockdown, our campus is finally becoming a busy place again. However, it is noticeable that not everyone (yet) knows which rules apply in a traffic-calmed area. That's why the building management has started to put up floor markings with the Shared Space sign at the main traffic points on campus. This word mark summarises well the rules of the StVo of a traffic-calmed area for considerate coexistence:

  •     Walking speed applies,
  •     all road users, cyclists, car drivers and pedestrians are on an equal footing
  •     and show consideration for each other.

We look forward to a shared, revitalised and traffic-safe campus.

Modernisation of the lecture hall corridor

Delivery problems for building materials are on everyone's lips at the moment. Unfortunately, our modernisation of the lecture hall corridor is also affected. Therefore, we will probably not be able to put the areas back into operation for the university until the end of the year.  We ask for a little patience. The lecture halls will still be accessible via the access points created for this purpose.
