Measures against nocturnal disturbances

Dear members of Leuphana,
dear colleagues, dear teachers, dear students,
We are still having a lot of trouble with our neighbours because of nocturnal disturbances caused by loud music on the sports lawn. There are also nocturnal disturbances in other places in the city of Lüneburg. The Hanseatic City has now reacted to this situation and initially banned the playing of music in the open air in the Stintviertel.
However, the consequence of this is that in future even more people will use the sports lawn on our campus to meet and party with friends there in the evening and at night.
Against this background and with a view to the summer holidays now beginning, we will therefore also restrict the playing of music outdoors for the sports lawn and all other areas on campus.
From 13.07.2022 onwards, it will be forbidden to play music in the open air on the sports lawn and other areas on campus after 9.30 pm.
Appropriate signage will inform about this ban. In addition, the university's security service is required to enforce the ban and admonish and, if necessary, expel people from campus who do not comply.
I ask all university members to consistently observe the new regulation and, if necessary, to make other people aware of it. In this way, you will help to ensure that we can continue to enjoy our campus during the summer months without adversely affecting our neighbourhood.
