Invitation to participate in the Leuphana Children's University

Dear teachers and researchers at Leuphana University of Lüneburg,
we ask for your support so that we can again offer a Children's University in the coming summer semester. We cordially invite you to give the children an insight into your field of research.
The next Children's University will be held under the motto: "WE UNDERSTAND THE WORLD AND HOW TO GET IT!". Children between the ages of 8 and 12 will have the opportunity to experience teaching and research at a university. The motto of the Children's University is deliberately kept non-specific, so that all faculties and working groups can get involved and give children an insight into current topics from their research.
On the initiative of the University Society, the Children's University is organized by the ‘Sachunterricht’ section in the ISEP and is sponsored by the University Society. The Children's University is an inter-faculty offer at Leuphana that has enjoyed great popularity for years.
We would be very happy if you as teachers could design, lead and support seminars, because without the commitment of many dedicated and enthusiastic teachers and researchers, the project cannot succeed. Research assistants and scholarship holders from all faculties are also cordially invited to contribute with their topics. Team contributions or jointly organized offerings with students are also very welcome.
Our goal is,
- to get children excited about current topics and research,
- to give them a first insight into university life and their Lüneburg university, Leuphana,
- to dare a look into the future together!
On four Saturdays, the young researchers will conduct their own practice-oriented investigations under guidance. Following the concept of inquiry-based learning, they will, for example:
- better understand global challenges and find ways we can act to preserve the world;
- Know how our actions and thoughts affect society and the world and understand what sustainable choices are;
and, in addition, experience that working methodically, observing closely, questioning phenomena, making assumptions about cause-and-effect relationships, and testing them through investigation if necessary, not only creates useful knowledge, but is also enjoyable.

15.04.2023 Introductory meeting in lecture hall 1 and start of the seminars
22.04.2023 Work in the seminars
06.05.2023 Work in the seminars
13.05.2023 Conclusion in the seminars and closing event in the Audimax
The seminars will always take place from 10:00 - 12:45. The closing ceremony will be held in the Auditorium in the Central Building from 12:00 - 13:00.
