Working Leuphana - Desire for good work
2023-06-06 To conclude the campaign, the staff council invites all Leuphana employees to a picnic on the Mensawiese. On Tuesday, 27 June, they will celebrate, chat and talk about good working culture.
Last spring, red postcards appeared on campus with a QR code and the question who would like to do good work: "Then let's dare something together," was the call. Around 60 employees accepted the invitation and came to the first Working Leuphana event. The staff council had called to talk about good work culture. "Within three hours, we planned the campaign together," reports Daniel Simons, chair of the staff council.
Ideas emerged for a podcast, for various informal meeting places such as the joint lunch table or after-work get-togethers. "Working Leuphana" also includes job tandems to connect employees. Even the logo of "Working Leuphana", on which many hands put together the net cube, was designed by the team. "With Working Leuphana, we wanted to give an impulse to improve the working culture on a small scale together with the employees. People have to enjoy working here and good work has so many facets. This cannot be regulated 'from above'. Change has to be lived. With the participatory character of the campaign, we wanted to pick up on the keyword self-efficacy," explains Daniel Simons.
"Working Leuphana" set impulses to initiate a university-wide discourse on good working conditions and the working culture of the future. "Even though our goal was debate, we chose action as our path. We wanted to become visible, to inspire, but also to irritate," explains Daniel Simons. Part of the campaign was therefore also unusual actions such as slogans written on campus paths with sidewalk chalk or motivational tear-off slips hanging in the tea kitchens.
Some of the activities will continue, such as the monthly after-work get-together at Klippo or the podcast "Treffpunkt Kaffeegondel", in which employees have their say.
On 27 June from 12 noon onwards, "Working Leuphana" will be holding a big picnic on the Mensawiese to mark the end of the campaign. All Leuphana employees are welcome to attend. To facilitate planning, the staff council asks for registration.
