Information for all university members on the extension of basic protection measures

2022-04-28

Dear members of Leuphana,
dear colleagues, dear lecturers, dear students,

On March 28, 2022, we had informed you in detail about the measures regarding university operations in connection with the Corona pandemic in the summer semester of 2022. Since then, the semester has started well, and operations in studies, teaching and research are running smoothly again, even with almost full attendance.

However, the number of infections in the Lüneburg region remains high, with an incidence of well over 1000. In order to continue to ensure safe university operations, also in the presence, the Presidential Board has decided, after again extensive consultation with the deaneries and deans of studies, department heads and the representatives of the students and the staff council, that all basic protection measures communicated by the Presidential Board on March 28, 2022 will be extended beyond April 30, 2022 again until May 31, 2022. We continue to follow the hope that the situation may have improved further by then.

Specifically, the extension relates to:

  1. the basic requirement to wear a respirator (FFP2 or medical mask) in all enclosed spaces of the University, as well as the obligations to ventilate regularly, to maintain a minimum distance wherever possible, and to comply with general hygiene requirements. The wearing of a respirator mask may be waived only in individual offices, while seated at workstations, and during work sessions (committee meetings, team meetings, job interviews, etc.), provided that sufficient minimum distances and adequate ventilation are maintained.

  2. the specific requirement to continue to wear an FFP2 mask (not a medical mask) within all courses, as course rooms will continue to be regularly occupied during the summer semester and participants will not be counted as contacts by the Health Department if they have adequate ventilation and are wearing an FFP2 mask. Instructors and lecturers/speakers may waive the requirement to wear the respirator mask during their teaching or lecture if minimum distances are maintained and adequate ventilation is provided. Teaching courses in physical education and music practice also continue to be exempt from this requirement.

In addition, the information from March 28, 2022 continues to apply and can still be found at www.leuphana.de/portale/coronavirus along with all other current information regarding Leuphana´s management of the pandemic. In addition, as always, the address cv-info@leuphana.de is available for your questions, comments and suggestions.

With many thanks for your understanding and with best wishes for a continuously content-rich and hopefully dialogue- and meeting-rich summer semester.
