Adjustment of the remuneration of student assistants and energy price flat rate

2022-09-07

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen
Dear colleagues

Due to the increase in the statutory minimum wage, the remuneration of student assistants will also be adjusted by the state of Lower Saxony. The Presidential Board has decided to adopt the regulations of the state of Lower Saxony.

The decree only changes the amount of hourly remuneration for student assistants without a university degree, so that student assistants without a university degree will receive an hourly remuneration of 12.00 euros from 01.10.2022; 10.69 euros until 30.09.2022.

From 01.10.2022, student and academic student assistants will thus receive the following hourly remuneration:

1) Academic and artistic student assistants
   a) with completed academic higher education within the meaning of Protocol Declaration No. 1, para. 2 to Part I of the Remuneratio Regulations for the TV-L  (e.g. Diplom, Magister or Master's degree at universities) or
   b) with a Master's degree in an accredited course of study at a university of applied sciences

shall receive a remuneration of 16.86 euros from the summer semester 2021 onwards.

2) Academic, artistic and student assistants
   a) with a Fachhochschule degree or
   b) with a Bachelor's degree

shall receive remuneration of 12.43 euros as of the summer semester 2021.

3) Student assistants without a completed higher education degree within the meaning of items 1) and 2)

shall receive remuneration of 12.00 euros from the beginning of the winter semester 2022/2023.

No further changes to the previous conditions are expected to occur.

I ask that this change be taken into account, especially when calculating the costs.

From 01.10.2022, the marginal earnings threshold will also increase. It will remain at 450.00 euros until 30 September 2022 and 520.00 euros from 1 October 2022.

Student and research assistants will be paid the flat-rate energy allowance together with their remuneration in September if they are employed on 01.09.2022 and the tax class 1 - 5 has been deposited for this purpose.

Please inform your student and academic student assistants accordingly.

For further information, please do not hesitate to contact your colleagues in the subject area.

Kind regards
