Introduction of M365

Dear colleagues,

We are now providing Leuphana University employees with access to Microsoft 365 services and applications. We are pleased to be able to offer you further powerful and frequently requested services for your official tasks.
 

ACCESS DATA

As a rule, you use these services with your primary e-mail address as your user name (forename.surname@leuphana.de) and the cloud password of your Leuphana account. If you are unsure what your primary email address is, you can view it in the myAccount portal of our Identity Management System at https://myaccount.leuphana.de. There you can also change your password in the password administration. We recommend setting different passwords for the different services (Leuphana, WLAN, Mail, Cloud). If you have not yet set a cloud password, you must do so before you can use Microsoft 365. WEB APPS AND LOCAL INSTALLATION

To use Microsoft 365 web apps, use your web browser (e.g. Firefox) and log in to the Microsoft 365 portal at https://office.com with your login data.

If you would like to use Microsoft 365 applications as a local installation on your PC and your PC is managed by the IT service, please contact the IT service for installation. If you manage your computer independently, you can obtain the installation files from http://office.com. To do this, follow the instructions in the MIZ Wiki (on the intranet at https://anleitungen.leuphana.de/doku.php/office365/start).

Of course, you can continue to use your currently locally installed MS Office products instead of switching to Microsoft 365. Please note that there can only be one Office installation per device, so a local installation of Microsoft 365 is not possible without deleting the previous installation on this device.

SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS FROM THE MICROSOFT 365 OFFER

You can initially use the following services or applications from the Microsoft 365 portfolio:

  • Word: Word processing software for local installation or as a web app.
  • Excel: Spreadsheet software for local installation or as a web app.
  • PowerPoint: Presentation software for local installation or as a web app.
  • Outlook: Email software with productivity features for local installation.
  • Teams: Collaborative online service with chat and video conferencing, file management, whiteboards etc. for local installation or as a web app.
  • Publisher: Desktop publishing software for local installation on Windows PCs.
  • Visio: Visualisation software for use as a web app.
  • OneNote: Software for organising notes for use as a web app.
  • OneDrive: Cloud storage service, especially for collaboration by sharing folders and files for collaborative editing (e.g. with Microsoft 365 apps), for local installation or as a web app.
     

DATA PROTECTION

In consultation with the Staff Council and Leuphana's data protection management, we have configured the Microsoft services to be as data-saving as possible, so that only a minimum of personal data is stored on Microsoft servers beyond the content you generate. The MIZ offers the following training dates for the use of Microsoft 365 and Teams in particular:

  • Wednesday, 2 November, 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Friday, 11 November, 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Monday, 28 November, 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Thursday, 1 December, 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 06 December, 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 13 December 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Thursday, 15 December 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Monday, 19 December 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
