Organize teaching

When planning courses, there are always administrative tasks to consider in addition to the content. On this page you will find an initial overview of the organization of teaching and examinations as well as the teaching services at Leuphana.
Detailed information on teaching at Leuphana can be found on the central teaching website. All Leuphana regulations and guidelines on studying and teaching are available on the intranet (VPN access required).

Teaching and examination organization

Contributing the teaching load

Their teaching load can generally be used at the College (Bachelor) or in the Graduate School (Master). Initially, the major and minor study programs are relevant here, but part of the teaching load should also be used for the interdisciplinary areas of the two schools (Leuphana Semester and Complementary Studies).
As a professor, you distribute your teaching load after consultation with the Office of the Dean of Studies and colleagues according to the basic scheme: about 3/4 of the teaching capacity is allocated to the College and about 1/4 to the Graduate School. Of the 75% for the College, approx. 50% is allocated to subject-specific courses in majors and minors and approx. 25% to courses in interdisciplinary areas, i.e. they should be designed for heterogeneous students or interdisciplinary courses.

Planning and coordination of teaching

At the beginning of each semester, the official course and examination offerings for the following semester are entered via the online course catalog in myStudy.
You will be informed of the dates and deadlines for submission via a central e-mail. This email will also include the current framework timetables for the College, Graduate School and Teacher Education, which specify the time slots for the courses in the various study programs.
In most cases, internal coordination has already taken place in the faculties and schools at this point, and the deans of studies provide information about this. This process is organized differently depending on the faculty. It takes place in collegial coordination with the institutes or program coordinators/subject coordinators, the Dean of Studies Office and, if applicable, the schools. Teaching for the interdisciplinary areas is coordinated in the College and Graduate School. Here you will also find contact persons for your department. The guidelines for planning courses contain detailed information on this.

Proof of teaching performance, minimum number of participants

Teaching loads are recorded and accounted for in accordance with the Teaching Obligations Ordinance (LVVO). Courses with fewer than 5 participants must be approved by the relevant dean's office or the relevant school in order to be counted towards the teaching load. More detailed information can be found in the guideline on the application of the LVVO. This can be downloaded from the intranet under Teaching and Studies.

Teaching evaluation

Course evaluation

The Leuphana Course Evaluation helps you to reflect on and further develop your teaching in and through dialog with students.
The LVE is based on a standardized and anonymized questionnaire, the focus of which you can choose yourself using the modular system. As a full-time lecturer, you evaluate at least one course per academic year.

Planning and execution of tests

Student Services is responsible for exam administration. The legal basis is provided by the Framework Examination Regulations (RPO) - which also contain the regulations on compulsory attendance - and the associated Subject-Specific Annexes (FSA). The RPO and FSA relevant to you can be found at:

Students currently register and deregister for examinations using the HIS software QIS and are administered by Student Services. The lecturers themselves do not enter information and results for examinations in QIS, but in myStudy. The new myCampus system will bring all services together for the 2023 summer semester. Current information on the process can be found on the intranet.
Detailed descriptions of the modalities relating to examination organization can be found on the  exam website and in the brochure on examination organization linked there.
All contact persons in Student Services are listed by study program and school.
