Information on sick leave in the event of a Corona infection
2022-07-14
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen
Dear colleagues
The Corona pandemic is ongoing and continues to result in numerous absences due to illness. I would therefore like to inform you once again that, even in the event of a Corona infection, the general service and labor law regulations regarding notification of illness and continued payment of your remuneration in the event of illness apply.
This also means that in the event of incapacity for work lasting longer than three calendar days, a medical certificate must be submitted to the Personnel Service (Human Resources and Legal). A PCR test or laboratory findings are not sufficient as proof of incapacity for work. With regard to issuing a certificate, please coordinate the procedure with the respective doctor's office.
In the event of an infection, it is advisable, but not mandatory, to have a PCR test performed. The sending of a PCR test certificate to the Personnel Service can therefore be omitted in the future.
In case of a positive rapid or PCR test, please do not return to the university until you have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours, but no earlier than 5 days after the positive result.
Please inform all colleagues and students with whom you had close contact on the 2 days before the positive test or before the first symptoms appeared about your infection or ask your supervisor to do so.
For more information on shedding and a definition of "close contact", please see the attachment. If you have any questions about this, please contact the Occupational Safety team at Leuphana University Lüneburg at arbeitssicherheit@leuphana.de (Jörg Seeba/Antje Dietrich). From now on, it is explicitly no longer necessary to inform Occupational Safety in every case of infection. This is intended to simplify the procedure for all parties.
For further information, please refer to the university website at www.leuphana.de/portale/coronavirus.html.
Finally, we would like to point out that those who have tested positive must actively report to their local health office.
Yours sincerely
Marie Webs
Personnel Service
